Shepherd’s Cottage

Northumberland

View on Google Maps

This detached cottage dates from an era when it served the farmland around it, and it retains that sense of rural character. Situated at the far edge of a working farm in Northumberland, it sits in genuine countryside—surrounded by sheep, backed by woodland, with the Simonside Hills visible from the property. The location puts you far enough from farm buildings to feel properly isolated, yet within walking distance of woodland walks and open moorland.

Inside, the cottage accommodates six across three bedrooms: a ground-floor super king with its own shower room, a first-floor king, and a first-floor twin. A family bathroom serves the upper floor. The main living space centres on a woodburner, with comfortable seating and a smart TV. The kitchen has an induction hob, dishwasher, microwave and American-style fridge freezer, opening into a dining area where you can sit as a group. There is a utility room with a washing machine. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included; parking for four cars sits on site.

One dog is welcome to stay at no extra cost, though sheep farming means dogs must stay on a lead. The property is non-smoking. It suits families wanting space and a genuine farm setting, or groups of friends looking for a base in walking country rather than a townside retreat.
