The Den
Northumberland

The Northumberland coast between Embleton and Bamburgh has some of England's finest stretches of sand and some of its best-preserved medieval history. Dunstanburgh Castle overlooks Low Newton-by-the-Sea on a walk that starts from the fishing village of Craster. Beadnell Bay, a few miles south, draws water sports enthusiasts. The Farne Islands, reached by boat from Seahouses, are home to seals and nesting seabirds. Seahouses itself has fish and chips, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. The Den sits on a working farm 4 miles inland from this coastline, in a hamlet where the pace of life slows considerably.
All accommodation is on the ground floor: a living space with a 32-inch smart TV and patio doors onto a decked terrace, a kitchen with electric oven and hob, two bedrooms (one double, one with twin singles) and a shower room. A welcome pack is provided. The decked areas come with garden furniture, a firepit and barbecue. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. A private hot tub is available for an additional charge per stay. One car can be parked on site. No smoking is permitted indoors.
The single-storey layout and four steps to the entrance mean the space is accessible and straightforward to navigate. The shared grounds surrounding the property look out towards countryside and the sea beyond. This suits couples and families after a base to explore the coast without driving far, or who want to spend an evening cooking over the fire on their own decked space.
