The Old Drapery Apartments - The Reivers Retreat
Northumberland
Haltwhistle sits at a rare crossroads: it's two miles from Hadrian's Wall, two miles from Northumberland National Park, and within an hour's drive of the Scottish border, Kielder Water to the north, and the Northumbrian coast to the east. The Old Drapery Apartments - The Reivers Retreat occupies the ground floor of a building that was once a draper's shop, right in the town centre among shops, restaurants and cafés. This means you can stock up on supplies, grab a meal, or simply wander around without needing the car.
The apartment is yours alone: a single bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with shower, and an open-plan living and dining space. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and washer-dryer, so you can cook properly or do laundry. There's a TV, Nintendo Wii, and Wi-Fi. Bed linen and towels are provided, heating is included, and one well-behaved pet can come along. On-road parking is available outside. The apartment does not permit smoking.
Haltwhistle works equally well as a base for serious walking—the national park and wall are both close—or for a touring holiday. Newcastle, Alnwick Castle, and the Scottish borders are all reachable for a day trip.
