The Old Stables at Wood House
Northumberland
The Old Stables at Wood House is a converted stone building from the 18th century, now a self-contained cottage sleeping six across three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Everything is on ground level: a large open-plan kitchen, dining and living space flows into a conservatory that overlooks the enclosed rear garden. The main bedroom has a super king bed; the other two hold a double and a pair of singles. Each bedroom has its own bathroom—one with a bath and shower, one with a bath only, one with a shower cubicle—plus there is a separate toilet and a utility room with a washing machine and freezer.
The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, with an electric range, microwave and full-sized fridge. A woodburner provides cosiness on colder days, with initial logs supplied. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included. The property sits in a courtyard at the rear of the larger Wood House, with private parking for three cars and an enclosed patio garden to the rear. Guests have access to a shared tennis court on the grounds and a lawned picnic area. The location is rural, straddling the Northumberland and Durham border in the Pennine Valley. Smoking is not permitted inside.
