The Stables Studio

Northumberland

Hadrian's Wall lies just 3 miles away, and the Northumberland National Park is equally close. Vindolanda Roman Fort, the Sycamore Gap and the Hadrian's Wall Cycleway are all within reach for a day out. Hexham, with its abbey and historic market, sits nearby for exploring a proper market town. The Stables Studio itself occupies a quiet spot on an equestrian property above Haydon Bridge village, which has shops, a supermarket and three pubs within walking distance.

The studio is a one-bedroom, ground-floor space for two people. You get an open-plan living area with a kitchen at one end, a dining space, and a sitting room with a gas woodburner. The bedroom holds two single beds. The shower room is walk-in. Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included, along with heating and electricity. There is one parking space on site and a wrap-around decked garden with seating, looking out over the Tyne Valley; a travel cot and highchair can be provided on request. No smoking is permitted inside or in the grounds.

The setting is genuinely remote—ponies graze in the paddock next door and the decking faces open countryside—yet Haydon Bridge is barely half a mile downhill. This suits people wanting a quiet base for walking and exploring the Wall, rather than somewhere buzzing with activity.
