About Wayford Bridge Inn

Right by the water's edge at Wayford Bridge, near Stalham, the Norfolk Broads spread out around this inn in every direction, with boats passing close to the garden and open countryside beyond. Wayford Bridge Inn makes the most of that setting, offering a base that's as suited to walkers and cyclists as it is to those exploring the Broads by boat.

The 15 rooms are kept clean and comfortable, a straightforward option for a night or two near the water. Downstairs, the restaurant and bar turn out generous helpings of homemade pies and Sunday roasts, with gluten-free choices available, and breakfast is included to set guests up for the day. Staff are attentive and friendly, though a few menu items can occasionally run out at busy times. A garden gives extra space to sit outside, and free WiFi, luggage storage and business services cover the practical side of a stay.

Free on-site parking makes it easy to come and go, whether that's heading out onto the Broads themselves or into Norwich for the day. Pets are welcome too, so the whole family can settle in by the bridge before heading out to explore.

Arrived with a party of nine (pre-booked) for dinner and were shown to our table. The restaurant was empty and a couple behind us were smirking as we walked in which should have been the first sign. My husband first went to the bar to ask for a drinks menu (they don’t have one) and the lady behind the bar said she would come over to take our orders. We waited for drink order to be taken whilst looking at the menu and nobody came. A member of our party then went to the bar to ask what the pie and soup of the day were and only at this point was he advised the pie was not available. He asked if anything else was unavailable and our server went to the kitchen and returned with a long list of food which was out of stock. I am not being dramatic when I say that over 2/3 of the menu was unavailable and all they really had was burgers. By the time we had been told this we had been in the restaurant for over twenty minutes. We then sat at the table considering our options (nobody came over to take our drinks order still) until we decided to call around local pubs to see if anyone else could take a party of nine and a dog at the last minute. Thankfully a pub a few minutes away was able to accommodate us and we had a lovely meal. We got up and left without saying why (albeit it should be evident) as this was the same level of communication given to us. Absolutely shocking all round, not only did they not tell us the majority of the menu wasn’t available as we walked in but they also had our phone number so could have let us know in advance.

We have been here several times previously whilst cruising the broads on a boat. We had a meal last night and were once again impressed by the service and food. We had booked a certain table as we have a reactive dog, but when we got there there was someone already sitting there. The staff were amazing and in order to support us they allowed us to sit at a table in the corner in the dining room. The food was lovely as always and the staff very attentive. We were with my elderly Father and we brought him in his wheelchair. There hotel is wheelchair accessible. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely come again on our next trip.

The Wayford Bridge Inn is located close to the pretty Norfolk village of Stalham, on the Norfolk Broads. The Hotel has rooms to suit all types of guests. Multiple small lounges, a large bar area and a huge free car park. Our room was located off the huge terrace, making life very comfortable for anyone with a walking issue as we could just step out. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast, cooked to order, was superb. Evening menu is extensive with everything from pizzas and burgers to more traditional pies and salads with specials available. Recommended to any visitor to this part of Norfolk.

We had a very pleasant 3 night stay here over the last bank holiday weekend in May. We ate there each night and had breakfast too. I must say we enjoyed every minute. We were greeted by Debbie who was extremely polite and efficient on explaining about the hotel and taking us to our ‘garden room’. We encountered Debbie a few times during her stay and she was always very polite and helpful. The manager, Paul, was also around the hotel and was also very polite and friendly, he was super nice to our dog too! I’d also like to mention little Caitlin who was also very polite, helpful and efficient. The room was a very good size with everything we needed and a very dark room, even in the bright sunny mornings, which really helped with some very much needed lay ins!! Thank you to all the team who made our stay so relaxing ☺️
