A great location but the site itself needs some investment and attention to detail. Toilets and showers were very dirty. A large number of the toilets would not flush. There were a lot of noisy unsupervised children basically running riot until well after 11pm, music blaring out to a similar hour. There seemed to be no staff presence at all to enforce the site rules. Very disappointing.

Nestled near the Holme Pierrepoint regatta lake and water sports activity centre, this campsite promised a lot. A lovely location, not fair from a sailing club on the idyllic banks of the River Trent, this is seemingly a great place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern existence. The pros: Great location - close to the water sports area which is ideal. Fabulous weather (thank you bank holiday gods) Good grass quality-- lush, clover enriched paddock. 4 washing up sinks with proper hot water and sizeable basins. Option to have a late checkout at 1pm was good for an extra £6. Nice ice creams near the regatta lake - Romano's The cons: Toilet and shower block as rough as a badger's proverbial. Some of guests as rough as a badger's proverbial, smoking the freshly cut grass. A lawless play park, with every kid for themselves in a dog eat dog mafia brawl. Staff with no presence on sight. Rarely checked amenities blocks and feral children running around, filling water pistols with boiling water, then running into toilet blocks to assault their 'friends' with said hot water, blasted with the super soaker. Read: parents who give zero fruitcakes about what their children are doing. Site was generally too busy - tents and caravans stacked in like budget sardines. A feeling that the sight is about 'Minimum effort and maximum profit.' Overall 3 stars is fair, maybe slightly generous all being said. 🌟🌟🌟🤔

I have stopped here a number of times, mainly camping but this time we hired a pod. Pod - nice and spacious. Good having electric and lights. Good space for parking. But could tell there have been issues with vermin round due to burrow holes under and poison traps round sides. So be wary if you have young children. Seeing the behaviour of our neighbour, eating bits of food and throwing the remains on the floor, I feel it is people's dirty habits that have caused this. Toilets/showers - there for 2 nights and couldn't face a shower. Physically made me feel 🤮 grime and dirty. Park was busy due to a National rowing competition and the state of the toilets, well it didn't appear they'd been cleaned from Saturday when we arrived until we saw the cleaners there thjs morning. What I saw in one toilet, well.... its etched in my brain for the rest of my life. There really are some dirty dirty bar stools in society!!! Washing up area, only 4 sinks for majority of park. Some more behind repetition but not enough when park is so busy. I can see mention of people having issue with a more feral clientele. I only noticed this issue this morning when an argument broke out with a couple and it was an aggressive argument and not nice to hear and sounded somewhat threatening. I have never had these issues before here but it will make me think as the quality of the site is of a much lower standard than our previous 3 visits.

After reading previous reviews we where concerned about our stay but it turned out we didn’t need to worry. The site is well looked after and cared for. The toilet block was clean and cleaned daily by friendly staff. The location is great for the country park. We had 3 really nice nights here and would recommend.
