Authentic glamping under canvas with private eco-friendly facilities, set on a working mushroom farm.

About The Mushroom Farm and Campsite

Tucked away on a working mushroom farm near Thistleton, this is authentic glamping with a difference. You'll stay under canvas in well-appointed bell tents, each with its own private eco-friendly facilities – a genuinely thoughtful touch that sets it apart from typical campsite ablutions. The working farm backdrop adds character, and families are warmly welcomed, though note that pets aren't permitted.

The setting strikes a lovely balance: peaceful and rural enough to feel like a proper escape, yet handy for exploring Oakham and the wider Rutland countryside. There's no WiFi, which depending on your mindset is either blissfully liberating or something to plan around. With drinking water on tap and a five-star rating from previous guests, it's a quietly impressive spot that delivers on its promise of simple, sustainable camping with just the right amount of comfort.

Just got back from having a one night stay, and loved this place. We had plenty of room on our pitch, which you choose yourself. The toilet didn't smell at all and was well equipped, and also had a little area to wash your hands. We had to experience the shower which we loved. There was even a little tent near the entrance on the left, which had snacks, water, gas, wood and toothpaste etc to purchase. Definitely going to come back to this place. You can tell a lot of love and thought went into this camp. Thank you.

What can I say but Wow, this is a stunningly beautiful campsite, large individual plots , with a real back to nature feel set in 11 acres of beautiful countryside, all plots are named after mushrooms, like ours was Chicken of the forest. Solar or bucket showers , compost toilets, Small honesty shop, no electric hook ups but who needs it here. I will be back im sure. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable. Trailer Tent couple

Stayed here over the late-May bank holiday. The pitches all have quite some distance between one another so it felt like there was loads of privacy but also clear pathways around the site. All pitches seemed to come with a metal fire pit or stone pit set up and there's been a lot of tree planting in recent years with some good followup care as many look well established despite the super dry spring. Abbie was a great communicator from booking to arriving on site, made a call on arrival but sent a nice detailed but clear text when i didnt answer, with info on operating the facilities and other bits. The compost toilets on site are really well kept, with some cute features like fairy lights and solar lamps lighting the way at night. Really close to Rutland water and the many cute villages in the area with great pubs and restaurants etc. Will definitely be back and look forward to seeing how the site develops over time, clear to see the potential and looked like there might be some ponds in development too, so imagine this will grow as a real wildlife haven! So many wildflowers, good hedgerows, trees etc. My daughter and a friend she made saw a small grass snake in a ditch/side bank, all kinds of beetles, butterfly's, you get the picture (didnt notice any mosquitos though :D).

Beautiful place! Lots of pitch size choice, with plenty of space between them. Clean toilets, handy little shop and quiet! No complaints and will definitely come again
