About Cotswold House Oxford

Cotswold House sits on the Banbury Road at 363, in the stretch of North Oxford between Summertown and the city where large Victorian and Edwardian villas line both sides of the road behind hedges and front gardens. It has been run as a guest house by the same family for many years and has the four-star grading and the run of consistent reviews that go with that kind of continuity.

There are single, twin, double and family rooms plus a larger deluxe room, all en suite, all kept plainly and immaculately rather than styled. Breakfast is included, there is free wi-fi throughout, and the thing that makes the biggest practical difference to a stay in Oxford is on the drive: ample off-street parking, at no extra charge, in a city where hotel parking is either absent or expensive.

The location is a mile and a half or so north of the centre. Buses along the Banbury Road are frequent and run late, the walk in through the university parks takes about half an hour and is a pleasant one, and Summertown's high street of delis, cafes and a supermarket is five minutes on foot in the other direction. It suits drivers, families and anyone staying more than a night or two who would rather have space, quiet and a car space than be in the middle of the tourist streets. Note that this is a small owner-run house, so there is no evening meal or bar, and it is worth booking well ahead for graduation weeks in June.

Host Mark was very welcoming. The proximity to Oxford is perfect with a regular bus service into and back from the city. Extremely good value for money. I will definitely stay again.

A Quaint, charming cottage feel to this B&B. The manager, Mark was so welcoming on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for him throughout our stay. Room 5 very good, bathroom exceptional. Breakfast great. Fruits, yoghurt, cereals, juices, toast and boiled eggs. Tea and coffee of course. Hot chocolate too! Highly recommended.
