Straightforward hotel on Queens Road, Paignton, with en-suite family rooms, an indoor pool, and free parking near the seafront.

About The Queens Hotel

Rooms at The Queens Hotel come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and family options for those travelling with children, along with drinks available in the room and a room service option for guests who'd rather not head down to the restaurant. That said, some rooms are showing their age and could do with a bit of updating, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly rather than anticipating a boutique finish.

Where the hotel earns its keep is downstairs: a varied breakfast and restaurant menu, a bar, and a clean indoor swimming pool for a dip regardless of the Devon weather. Staff are consistently described as helpful, and the overall package is considered good value for money. Practical extras include a lift, free WiFi, laundry service, packed lunches for day trips, meeting rooms, and free on-site parking.

The hotel sits on Queens Road in Paignton, with the beach, Paignton Zoo, and the South West Coast Path all within easy reach. Golf, fishing, cycling, and watersports are nearby too, alongside a choice of pubs and restaurants for evenings out.

Booked a 3 day break, but unfortunately due to residents above, our room was flooded on the first night, manager quickly sorted out alternative accommodation at the Palace, as they were fully booked, we returned to find that the room could not be used due to the damage, therefore we had to cut our visit short. Room was small and a little tired but adequate for a short break, hotel was well equipped with restaurant, bar, evening entertainment and an indoor pool, and situated in a perfect position to everything. We opted for an evening meal, which was really well cooked and presented and very tasty, the staff were all very helpful and the Asian lady serving food was a very cheerful lady. Would definitely recommend and return.

Just returned from a weekend break here and had a fantastic weekend. Out group have been holding similar weekends for the last 26 years and have stayed in hotels all over the South West. I have to say, the food we had here at The Queen's is, without a doubt, the best food we have had at any hotel. There was plenty of choice, you didn't need to pre-book, portions were generous, it was very well presented, and the quality was exceptional. The service was also really good. The room was ok - not the best we have had being a bit small and dated, but the bed was comfortable, and there were all the facilities we needed. Bar is a very good size, and we made good use of the Pool room. I didn't use the swimming pool but others in our group did. It looked clean and of a good size though. Hotel is well located close to seafront, town centre, and railway station. There was car parking too.

After first seeing the hotel from the small, rear carpark we didn't have high expectations- it looks very unloved from that side. Inside was a nice surprise though because the decor is very good. One thing that let it down was the staff - they were helpful enough but only really spoke when spoken to or asked. Feel bad not to know his name but the main barman was really friendly, might be Paul. He was a real asset to the hotel. A real let down was the bed - that was really uncomfortable. Because of that we didn't sleep very well so every noise - doors slamming, floorboards creaking, seagulls - couldn't be ignored. The room service was a surprise - they just made the bed. Used cups and glasses were just left. The food wasn't bad although the melon starter, with 3 tiny pieces, was a disappointment. Breakfast was ok. The evening entertainment was quite good but JJ, the clarinetist, was the funniest act I've seen in years. Would go back just to see him. Didn't try the pool but parking was tricky - we used taxis as worriedbwe wouldn't get parked. Only other option is to park in the road but that was full too

I had a really nice meal tonight. It was very enjoyable. The lamb stew was delicious. 👍🏼 Besides the issue with noise transfer from loose floorboards my stay has been really nice 👍🏼 The reception staff are very nice and helpful 👍🏼 Restaurant staff also good 👍🏼 Even the room maids are lovely 👍🏼 The heated pool is a big bonus 🏊🏼‍♂️👍🏼 YES I would stay again.
