First class museum experience. Authentic mid 1800s atmosphere created by gas lights and many original items. Made to feel very welcome by staff. Jonathan very knowledgeable and very kindly allowed me a little extra time to complete my tour. The TV series Upstairs and Downstairs doesn't do justice to the somewhat gloomy conditions for the servants. Highly recommended.

An amazing piece of history! This is such a thoughtfully curated and beautifully maintained museum in the fabulous town of Presteigne. If you’re interested in history, it will appeal; if you’re interested in architecture, it will appeal, or if you just want a slice of delicious Victoria sponge then the tea room is great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit (the audio guide is great) and the setting so so immersive. The final part (no spoilers) adds a real sense of drama. Well worth a visit.

Visited today with a friend who also lives locally. Neither if us has been before and we were amazed at what lies beyond the front doors. Brilliant, informative audio tour that you control yourself. We felt totally immersed in the whole place as each room told us a different story. The staff were really helpful and knowledgeable. There is also a different experience at the end of the audio part of the tour. Would recommend it for all age groups as there is so much to take in. Also, like the fact that the ticket is valid for a year. Will definitely return. Thanks for a fabulous few hours discovering local history.

Fascinating ... our second visit. We arrived shortly after opening time and had the whole place to ourselves most of the time. Plenty to see. The audio tour was informative and entertaining. Well worth a visit. £9.95 each is pretty reasonable as it gives entry for a full 12 months. Parking is available a few yards from the entrance.
