Walking into 2 Cilwendeg Lodge, you find yourself in a restored period property that opens onto a ground floor where living, cooking and dining flow together in one generous space. The sitting room has a woodburner and a 42-inch smart TV; the kitchen beyond is fully equipped for cooking, with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, and a utility room housing a washing machine. A walk-in shower room completes the ground floor. Upstairs, two kingsize bedrooms provide the sleeping quarters, with a Z-bed available if needed for flexible use.
Outside, the main draw is the private hot tub set in an enclosed, lawned garden with patio and furniture. There is also a dedicated games room, secure bike storage, and parking for two cars on site. The lodge sits within the Cilwendeg Estate in rolling countryside near Newchapel, a hamlet with a traditional pub serving local ales within walking distance. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all provided. The property is non-smoking and not available for hen or stag parties.
This part of Pembrokeshire has numerous coastal villages within 30 minutes' drive—Newport Sands, Poppit Sands and Mwnt Beach are all accessible for swimming, kayaking or fishing. Walking country starts from the doorstep, and the wider Pembrokeshire Coast Path is nearby.

What guests say
Unfortunately our experience did not meet expectations. The property looked promising online, but several issues impacted what was meant to be a restful break. On arrival, we discovered a ladies shaver in the hot tub, along with what appeared to be sand or hair. As the hot tub was a key reason for booking, this was very disappointing. Although the host arranged for it to be drained and cleaned of which efforts we appreciated, it meant we were unable to use the facility for the first day. The situation was unhygienic and set a negative tone for the stay. The following day, a workman unexpectedly arrived and started to assemble scaffolding directly on the property while we were staying there. While he was polite and offered to leave, this was a complete invasion of our privacy. We also found the property required guests to complete a list of chores before checking out, including stripping beds and carrying laundry. While we are always respectful and tidy before leaving, being asked to do this, especially after finding stained mattresses, was unsettling and left us questioning the cleanliness of the accommodation. This set of instructions is also not mentioned anywhere online. Overall, the property did not match the description or images online. It felt tired, poorly maintained, and far from the advertised standard. Sadly, this stay fell well short of the relaxing, high quality experience we had hoped for. I really wanted to resolve the issues with the hosts as I hate leaving negative reviews but sadly on this occasion they were not accommodating.
