The Milking Parlour is a stone conversion within a former farm complex near Clynderwen, set back down a private drive in the Preseli foothills. Built from the original dairy building, it combines period character with modern comfort—exposed stone walls meet underfloor heating, contemporary kitchen appliances and a wood burner. The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms and one bathroom, all on a single level with direct access to the garden.
Ground-floor layout means the open-plan living space flows from the sitting area (with Freeview and DVD) into the kitchen, fitted with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and the essentials for self-catering. Both bedrooms open onto the patio: one with a double bed, the other with bunks. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included, plus logs for the wood burner and fuel for the private wood-fired hot tub. The enclosed rear garden has seating and a barbecue; across the wider grounds, shared spaces include a firepit area and walking routes around the on-site lake. One dog is welcome. Note that the lake lies about 70 yards from the cottage, unfenced, and a stream runs nearby.
The property suits families seeking countryside without isolation—there's space to roam but also proper plumbing and parking for two cars. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and local villages are within reach.

A week at Preseli Hills Cottages turned out to be exactly the kind of escape we’d been craving — peaceful, grounding, and full of small moments that stay with you long after you’ve unpacked your bags. The cottage itself felt like a sanctuary tucked into the landscape, with every comfort thoughtfully in place, but it was Jen and Phil who made the experience truly special. We chatted with Jen and Phil over maps and weather, plotting out our next stretch of the coastal path from Cardigan to St Davids. Their local knowledge is gold — not just the practical “start here, finish there,” but the kind of insider tips only people who love a place can give. The coastal path was a joy: sweeping views, cliffs alive with wildflowers, and birdlife that made us stop more often than we expected. One of the highlights was stumbling upon a sand martin colony, hundreds of them looping and diving in and out of the sandbank. We stood there far longer than planned, completely mesmerised by their effortless flight. Evenings became a ritual of their own — sinking into the cottage garden chairs, shoes off, the day’s miles still humming in our legs, and a Golden Road gin & tonic in hand. Knowing it was crafted by Jen and Phil themselves made it taste even better. If you’re looking for a place that blends comfort, nature, and genuinely warm hospitality, I can’t recommend Preseli Hills Cottages enough. It’s the kind of stay that reminds you how good it feels to slow down, breathe deeply, and let a beautiful place run by beautiful people work its magic.

We have definitely found our happy place here at Preseli Hills Cottages. Have stayed in both The Byre and The Milking Parlour, and both are stunning. Beautiful interiors and in a gorgeous, peaceful location. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. And very dog friendly! Monty loves it as much as we do! Nothing is too much trouble for the owners, who do everything they can to ensure you have the best stay. Would highly recommend!

What a gem!!! Such a beautiful spot and gorgeous cottages. We stayed in The Milking Parlour but were lucky enough to peek into the other 2 cottages. They are very comfortable and well equipped and the hosts have thought of everything. They are on hand should you need anything and have a wealth of local knowledge and recommendations.

Well what can we say about our stay at Byre! It was such a lovely little stay! We got to enjoy a lovely 4 night stay in December, just before Christmas. The cottage was immaculately clean, well heated and provided the basics such as firewood, salt, pepper and toiletries. We really enjoyed the enclosed garden that allowed our dogs to roam carefree. They also enjoyed the access to the lake - it was beautiful in winter, so I can’t imagine how stunning it must be in summer. The addition of having a hose to wash the dogs down outside was great for the muddy weather and we also made use of the dog hair dryer that is available from one of the outhouses. The hot tub was a hit with us. And when we ran out of logs we were able to purchase some from the hosts with ease. Preseli Cottages are located in a very rural area, which meant that it is was wonderfully quiet. A short 8 minute drive away is an incredible hike that can be found on All Trails - you can do a loop of upto 15km. Half an hour drive will take you to Newport Beach which also has a number of dog friendly cafes too. This place is an incredible rural retreat. 5 stars from us!
