The Matchbox

Families and larger groups will find The Matchbox works well for a full household. The property sleeps eight across four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, so there's no negotiating queues in the morning. Bedroom 1 on the ground floor has a kingsize bed, walk-in shower and bath; the lower ground floor holds three further bedrooms—a super kingsize, a zip-and-link that can split into two singles, and another kingsize—each with ensuite facilities. An additional separate toilet serves the ground floor.

The heart of the house is an open-plan living space where the kitchen, dining and sitting areas flow together. There's a smart TV, electric hob and Aga, dishwasher, and a utility room with extra fridge and freezer space. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. Outside, terraced gardens planted with roses and lavender lead down to a heated swimming pool, and the unspoilt beach at Freshwater East is a short walk away. The property can accommodate six cars on site, and one well-behaved pet is welcome. No smoking inside.

This is a house designed to take advantage of its position—a local architect maximised the sea views throughout every room. In summer the gardens come alive and the pool offers a morning swim or afternoon cool-off; in winter the same views reward a quieter pace. Arrival is after 16:00 and departure before 10:00.
