Small four-star guest house in the centre of Tenby with five en-suite rooms and the beach a two-minute walk away.

About Sunny Bank Guest House

Sunny Bank is a five-bedroom guest house in the middle of Tenby, a couple of minutes on foot from the beach and about the same from the walled old town. It is a townhouse rather than a purpose-built hotel, run personally by the owners, and takes a maximum of ten guests at a time, which keeps things quiet and unhurried.

The five en-suite bedrooms are spread across the first, second and third floors and are named after Pembrokeshire landmarks: The Beekeepers, Skomer, St Davids, Caldey and Barafundle. Sizes vary with the floor, and the upper rooms involve a few flights of stairs with no lift, which is worth knowing in advance. Rooms are decorated simply and kept in good order, with comfortable beds, decent showers, tea and coffee facilities, televisions and free wi-fi.

Breakfast is the centrepiece of the offer, cooked to order with local sausage and bacon, Welsh options and vegetarian choices, served in a small dining room. There is no bar or evening food, which is no great loss given the number of restaurants and pubs within a short walk. The owners are a useful source of advice on boat trips, parking and where to eat. Parking is on the street or in the town car parks rather than on site.

Tenby itself does most of the work: the harbour, the three beaches, the medieval walls and the Tudor Merchant's House are all close by, and the boats to Caldey Island leave from the harbour in season. Saundersfoot, Manorbier and the Stackpole estate are short drives away, and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path passes through the town. It suits couples and independent travellers on a moderate budget who want to be able to leave the car and walk everywhere.

We have stayed in many B&Bs over the years, but this was, without question, the very best for accommodation, value, and customer service. From the moment we arrived, Peter and David made us feel genuinely welcome. As an LGBT couple, we especially appreciated staying somewhere that was so openly friendly and inclusive, which made us feel completely at home. The property itself was absolutely spotless, and it's clear how much love, care, and pride Peter and David have invested in creating such a beautiful place to stay. The décor is stylish yet warm and homely, making it a wonderfully relaxing place to come back to after a day exploring Tenby. Peter is the perfect host and a true gentleman. Nothing was ever too much trouble. From carrying our bags to our room, offering fresh milk refills for the fridge, and sharing his excellent local knowledge of attractions, restaurants, and the best-value places to visit, his attention to detail was second to none. David's breakfasts deserve a special mention—they were simply outstanding. His perfectly poached eggs were the best we've had, and the vegetarian breakfast featuring his homemade Glamorgan sausage was exceptional. It was so good that he even kindly shared the recipe with us! There was also an excellent selection of both hot and cold breakfast options, all beautifully prepared. A huge thank you to both Peter and David for making our holiday so comfortable, welcoming, and memorable. Your hospitality was exceptional, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend your B&B to anyone visiting Tenby. We can't wait to return!

Booked through booking.com non refundable. My mother had a heart attack and in CCU Heath hospital. Explained this to Peter and he was not prepared to let me rearrange the booking or give a refund. He told me to claim on my holiday insurance, To say incentive and uncompassionate is an understatement. Due to this I would not advise to book a non refundable booking and definitely would not recommend them 😡
