About The Pendennis Guest House

The Pendennis occupies an end-of-terrace Victorian house on Alexandra Road, built around 1860 by the architect responsible for many of Penzance's period houses, and it retains a good deal of that original character across its seven guest rooms. Recent updates have added smart televisions and fast wifi without disturbing the building's period feel.

It sits about three hundred yards from Mount's Bay and ten minutes' walk from the town centre and railway station, in a quiet residential street that gives it a calmer feel than properties directly on the promenade. Breakfast is served daily using local ingredients, and the owners are known for genuinely helpful recommendations on exploring the wider Land's End peninsula.

Its combination of period character, modern comfort and walkable location has made it a consistently well-reviewed choice among Penzance's guest houses.

Richard and Sarah are wonderful hosts. Breakfast is excellent. The location was perfect as I was going to watch a rugby match. Very close to the sea and a short walk into town. Free on street parking as well which is always a bonus. The room was clean and comfortable. Being a single traveller I was in the loft room which is a large single. Perfect for me

What a lovely, lovely guesthouse!! We were fortunate enough to find this wonderful place after suddenly needing to stay in Penzance the day before. Even though there was a problem with the payment going through, the host, Richard, was very patient and we sorted it over the phone. Walking into the hallway, the welcome was tangible from the warm decor and the cosy breakfast room to the right. The room did not dissappoint, being well appointed and confortable. All the information we needed was left neatly on the bed, including pencil to fill in the breakfast form. Nice touch. Another nice touch was the grey hand towel so I could dry my hair and not feel awful if any of the hair dye seeped! Fantastic. We loved the breakfast room with all its delightful crockery and nic-nacs. Sarah was a delight. And the breakfast cooked by Richard was tasty and filling. Everything was decanted so no wasteful single-use products with their excessive wrapping and plastic. The glass milk bottles to take from the fridge and to our room were not only cute but sensible. If you are heading for Penzance to stay, do not miss out on this rare treat. Thank you Sarah and Richard.

Richard and Sarah were excellent hosts, giving advice about places to visit, including restaurants for evening meals. The Guest House is welcoming, albeit with steps so could be a challenge for some. The room we had was first class, and the breakfast was superb. Communications from booking to arrival were very helpful. The promenade is five minutes walk away, although it is a longer into Penzance Centre. We had no problem with parking in the road, but did wonder if it is as easy in the height of the summer. Overall, we highly rate the Pendennis Guest House and without hesitation would stay there again.

Lovely room - nice decor, clean and decent space. Lots of nice touches like tea, coffee, biscuits etc. Delicious breakfast with plenty of variety. Very friendly hosts and excellent communication. Street parking fine - a little busy but did find a space after circling. Good location for what we needed. Definitely recommend.
