Maycroft Retreat

My partner and I had the most incredible retreat weekend and couldn’t recommend it more. The Heather pod itself was absolutely gorgeous, beautifully designed, cosy, and complete with our own private hot tub, which made it feel extra special. One of the highlights was the peaceful walk to the nearby waterfall, where we went for a swim. The host Denise was an absolute darling and went above and beyond to help me organise a surprise for my partner’s 30th birthday, which made the weekend even more meaningful. The wild spa experience was another standout, an amazing sauna followed by a cold plunge was both invigorating and deeply relaxing. It was the perfect weekend, we left feeling completely refreshed and already can’t wait to return!

Wow what an amazing place this is. Denise is the most incredible host, she really goes out of her way to make your stay perfect. We stayed in the Heather pod which is so lovely and had everything we could possibly need. The hot tub was brilliant. The full body massage was the best I have ever had, so relaxing. We used the wild spa too, including sauna and plunge pools which was a great chilled out experience. Will definitely be back.

My girlfriend booked this for me as a surprise 30th birthday celebration, it was genuinely the best I’ve ever had. Denise was the most lovely attentive host, the setting is incredible and the accommodation is both homely and bigger than you would even imagine. Definitely take Denise up on the sauna and the cold plunge, the view alone will get you through the cold water. There’s plenty space to go exploring and a peaceful little waterfall, that is fed by several fairy pools. Considering this is just over an hour from the chaos of Edinburgh, it’s the perfect location to just get away from it all and back to nature. Could not recommend this high enough to anyone and will definitely be revisiting in the future.

There are some places you visit, and then there are places that stay with you forever. Maycroft Retreat is one of those places. My husband and I came here because we needed to step away from the busyness of life, reconnect with each other and simply be. It was exactly what we needed. From the moment we arrived, we felt ourselves begin to exhale. Surrounded by nature, the peace here is unlike anything we’ve experienced before. Every detail has been thoughtfully created to help you slow down, reconnect and nourish your body, mind and soul. The Wild Spa is simply incredible. Moving between the sauna and the cold plunge was one of the most invigorating, restorative and uplifting experiences we’ve ever had. You leave feeling completely renewed. We were also fortunate enough to experience Denise’s holistic treatments, and they were nothing short of exceptional. Her healing touch, intuition and gentle presence create an experience that goes far beyond a treatment – it feels like genuine care for the whole person. Denise has a very special gift. She is an absolute earth angel. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her. Her warmth, kindness and generosity shine through in everything she does, and she has created a retreat that feels both luxurious and deeply nurturing. You arrive as guests and leave feeling like friends. We have left feeling calmer, lighter and more connected than we have in a long time. I honestly feel so blessed to have found this beautiful sanctuary. We will absolutely be back. Maycroft Retreat has become our new home from home – our own little piece of heaven on earth.
