What visitors say
We camped for two nights over a weekend at the end of May. The owners and staff were all very friendly. The food was excellent for standard pub fare. It was quiet enough but a friendly atmosphere and you could chat to people in the pub if you wanted. We didn't have a car so hiked to/from pewsey rail station but you could use the Wiltshire connect service to get around cheaply. The hike is easiest if you go via the canal.

We used the campsite facilities (£25 per night) and had a ball! Showers, toilets, microwave, sinks, washing machine, WiFi all on site. The bar was open and the barmaid couldn’t have been more welcoming to not just us, but our dog Maggie. We chatted and sang with the locals and had an absolute whale of a time. Highly recommend. Great atmosphere. Countryside setting, lovely and quiet. Tents, campers, caravans all welcome. Watch out for Ernie the sausage dog, he’s something of a local celebrity and absolutely gorgeous. Cracking local beer too. Be aware, food only on a weekend…unless you’re happy with crisps and pork scratchings, so pack food! Great find! Thanks for having us!

We stayed at this campsite and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The pub had a warm, friendly atmosphere, and the locals made us feel truly welcome. We enjoyed two meals during our stay—an evening dinner and a Sunday roast—and both were absolutely delicious. It’s also very dog-friendly, making it feel like a real hidden gem

If you like a proper pub this is it. I stayed overnight on the adjoining campsite. Clean loos and shower, level site with power if needed. One of the best pints of Butcombe I have drunk for a while. Friendly and helpful staff. I will return next year.
