What visitors say
A must visit. Excellent small museum with a dwelling showing remote rural Orkney life from the 1600s to the 1960s. Small details make it, like some spectacles left on a mantlepiece, original pictures and books. The fire's lit each day burning peat, smoke goes out through the hole in the roof. 100% authentic complete with a garden (and strangely a putting green!), the guide made the visit, very helpful and friendly. Small shop with local craft items to buy, toilets and plenty of parking. Free entry, they'd welcome a small donation.

Just lovely. An unexpected find and a rare opportunity to step back in time. So much to see, it gives a good idea of what it was like in the past. Entry by donation, but do give something keep this special place going.

A wonderful portrait of farmhouse life over the last 400-500 years, this museum is a bit off the beaten path. Unlike other similar museums, you are able to walk through and touch all the items, which is pretty special. Very interesting, and absolutely worth the detour. There's no price for entry, although a 5£ donation per person is suggested. There's a cute small gift store as well. If all that isn't enough to convince you, there's a small mini putt course on the lawn!

Wonderful little farm museum giving real insights as to how folk lived and farmed in the last few centuries. Friendly helpful staff and little shop and some north Ronaldsay sheep too! Recommended.
