About Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa
Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa occupies a nineteenth-century baronial mansion set in its own grounds on the shore of Loch Faskally, a short drive or riverside walk from Pitlochry town centre. The original castle rooms sit alongside a more recent contemporary wing, and many of the hotel's bedrooms and suites look directly out over the loch and the wooded hills beyond.
The hotel's spa includes an indoor pool, sauna and steam facilities looking out over the water, while its restaurant serves a fine-dining menu built around Perthshire game, Scottish seafood and produce from the surrounding estates. A separate brasserie offers a more relaxed alternative for guests who want something less formal.
Fonab's grounds run down to the water's edge, with private moorings and direct access onto the Loch Faskally circular walk, making it a popular choice for guests who want a country-house atmosphere within easy reach of the town's shops, theatre and distilleries.

What guests say
From arrival to departure, our stay at Fonab Castle Hotel was wonderful, and a true highlight of our Scotland vacation. Kirsty, Davie, and Neta delivered top notch support and customer service (professional and personable, solution-finders) at arrival, departure, and throughout our stay. Our dinner (food and service) were extraordinary; breakfast was incredible too with a variety of options and prompt service, without rushing us through the meal. The dining room is well appointed and there is not a bad table with the views it offers. The room, the view, the vibe ... all amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer; and will definitely look for a return to this specific property when we are next in Scotland. And until then, will recommend it to those we know traveling to the area.

We had a truly special afternoon tea experience at Fonab Castle Hotel with our wee dog organised by Judy and Joanne in one of the fabulous pods overlooking Loch Faskally. From the moment we arrived, the service and attention to detail were exceptional. A special thank you to our server Bridgit from Poland, who looked after us so warmly and professionally throughout the afternoon, and also to the Assistant F&B Manager for making the experience feel so memorable and welcoming. Huge compliments to the kitchen team as well — the tasse cup of mushroom soup was absolutely amazing, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The fresh scones were simply perfect: warm, crumbly, and they melted in the mouth. Every element of the afternoon tea was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Thank you Fonab Castle for such a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to return!

Room was lovely there were ants that had access to our lodge when we went. We stayed on the extended part of the castle so not in the actual castle. They greeted us with a warm welcome in kilts. Honestly it was a lovely experience and lovely staff the only negative was some ants in the room which was located on the waterfront part maybe why there was some insects. but even with that this place was amazing. And I’d love to return but maybe stay in the castle next time

We stayed in four hotels during our trip to Scotland and this was by far the worst. The food is mediocre, the rooms in the lodge need rehab and the service was terrible. The room was dark and was not properly serviced -one of our “fresh towels” was left on the floor. The service during the breakfast buffet was nonexistent. The staff was cold and impersonal. They seemed more concerned with talking among themselves than waiting on our table. The one bright spot was the concierge. He was always smiling when he greeted us and always asked if we needed anything. He gave us a ride back to the hotel from the restaurant and seemed genuinely pleased he had an opportunity to help us. We feel the potential is there to make Fonab a great hotel but much work needs to be done.
