About The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel
A restaurant and bar serving as the heart of the day, with breakfast included and packed lunches available for those heading out walking or cycling, sets the tone at The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel on Knockard Road in Pitlochry. Drinks can also be brought straight to the room, useful after a day exploring Perth and Kinross.
Rooms are generously sized and come with en-suite bathrooms, family rooms available for those travelling with children, and pets are welcome too. It's worth noting that some rooms show their age and maintenance can be inconsistent, though the staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. The hotel's leisure facilities are a particular draw, with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gym on-site, plus a garden and free WiFi throughout.
Outside, Pitlochry Golf Course is close by, and the surrounding area offers walking and cycling routes, watersports, and a choice of pubs and restaurants nearby. Free on-site parking is available for those arriving by car.
What guests say
Before arriving I'd read some of the recent reviews and lower scored reviews. Reviews such as highlighting dogs cannot be in a breakfast buffet area. As a guest without a dog, like majority of the other guests there when I stayed, I'm glad dogs weren't allowed in a free serve food area as this would be against food hygiene laws. I found it fascinating to see a review complaining about staff members being foreign. Some members of staff were born in a different country but in no way did this bother me, especially to the extent where I felt I needed to publicly shame them over their ethnicity. I found the staff welcoming and chatty. The barman with the glasses had good banter about him and all staff served with a smile. Our hotel room was modern and spacious, it had great views of the garden and hills in the distance. Food was lovely, especially the breakfast. Facilities and services offered were great and me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again, if in the area. Don't allow a few bad reviews of clearly insane people stop you visiting this lovely hotel 😊

A Victorian period hotel retaining some of its original character. Rooms are spread over several floors, some with lift access. There is ample on-site free parking. Our room was fairly spacious and clean but was starting to suffer from a lack of TLC, especially maintenance, including a loose toilet seat, very noisy extractor fan and intermittent main light switch. The staff were very friendly and the bar food was excellent.

Found out on arrival that I'd booked for the wrong dates! Steven on reception was so helpful and sorted everything out for me at no extra charge (and even ended up getting breakfast added to my booking to!). Fantastic service. Room was nice and cosy too and the breakfast was lovely. Recommended :)

Staff were good, bar is ok. Gym is very small. Pool is nice. Steam room is terrifying, would genuinely question if this is up to HSE standard. Decor in main areas could use an update. Good to see rooms and bathrooms have been well updated under new owners. Breakfast no better than a Premier Inn. Did not eat in restaurant. Bar food ok.
