Darowen sits high in the Cambrian Mountains, among densely wooded hillsides and ancient stones, about seven miles from Machynlleth. This part of Powys draws walkers and cyclists for the landscape itself—nature reserves, woodland, riverbank—rather than for towns or attractions. The cottage occupies a hilltop position at 600 feet, which means views across the hills and generally clear skies.
Gwenllian is a single, self-contained unit with one bedroom and one bathroom. The open-plan living space combines kitchen, dining and sitting areas, with a woodburner, induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The bedroom holds a king-size bed with an en-suite shower and a bath positioned next to it; there is also a mezzanine area. A garden with decked section, seating, and a barbecue surrounds the property. The hot tub is positioned on the deck. A shed provides storage for coats, boots and bicycles. Electricity, bed linen, towels and initial logs for the fire are included in your stay.
The cottage suits couples or those wanting solitude in the hills. The location works well for cycling or walking; cycling in particular, since there is secure storage and the terrain around Darowen offers routes through woodland and open country. It does not cater to smoking.
