About Gwalia Farm
Tucked into the Powys hills near Machynlleth, Gwalia Farm is a wildlife-lover's dream – and with just a handful of adults-only pitches, you'll have plenty of peace to spot the dragonflies, buzzards, glow worms and even otters that call this place home. Pitch in the spacious field or by the lake, where you can wild-swim if you don't mind the chill (there's no safety kit, so take care). The working farm comes with resident goats, sheep and chickens, plus an organic veg plot to admire.
Facilities are deliberately low-key to protect the ecosystem: expect a compost loo, sink and spring water, though you can arrange a hot shower at the farmhouse for a small charge. Campfires are encouraged, so stock up at Machynlleth's shops and market (15 minutes' drive) or dodge the cooking and hit the pub five minutes away in Cemmaes. It's as remote and wild as small campsites get.

What visitors say
Just had the most wonderful 5 days at The Cabin on the Other lake. Our 2nd visit to Gwalia Farm and it was perfect! It has everything you need for a relaxing stay with an extremely comfy bed with the best cosy bedding, snuggly blankets, log burner, games and really well equipped kitchen. Stargazing from the hot tub watching shooting stars and listening to . . . . . . . . . absolutely nothing but the wilderness! Everything about this place is amazing, a tranquil piece of heaven nestled in the middle of nowhere, just perfect. 💚

Absolutely idyllic. Had a lovely few days at the cabin. The place is really nicely put together and presented, you can tell a lot of thought went into making and running the cabin. Amy and Dee are fantastic hosts, really professional whilst also being friendly and welcoming. Can't rate them or the cabin highly enough.

Had a fantastic weekend staying at the Cabin on the other lake at Gwalia farm. What an incredible idyllic haven they have created. Hot tub, log burner, canoe, fire pit etc all great fun to use and so many thoughtful little touches (nice bed linen, sharp knives, lovely welcome gift etc. Bedroom was so warm and cosy; what a treat to lie in bed watching all the wildlife come and go outside. You can see such a lot of hard work had been put in. Dee and Amy are very welcoming hosts. We loved everything about the cabin and left feeling totally rejuvenated.

Gwalia is an absolutely beautiful place. It is impossible not to be at peace there. It is tranquil, feels remote and surrounded by nature. We have stayed at Gwalia by the lake twice and loved the setting, amenities and atmosphere so much on both of our visits. We hope to return again in the summer to visit the family of ducks and see how big the ducklings have grown! Perfect couples get away! 😊
