The Cottage

Families and larger groups will find The Cottage a comfortable base for exploring mid-Wales. This former public house retains period character while offering modern facilities across three floors. The ground floor holds an open-plan living and dining space with a woodburner, a separate sitting room, kitchen with electric cooking and a dishwasher, and a shower room. Upstairs are four bedrooms—a zip-and-link super king, a king, a double and two singles—alongside two bathrooms with baths and showers. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are included.

Outside, a private hot tub sits within an enclosed garden with patio seating. Parking is available for four cars. One well-behaved pet stays free. The owners can provide a travel cot, highchair and stairgate if needed. Access is via three steps to the entrance, though a level alternative exists through a side gate to the back door; two further steps lead into the garden itself.

Montgomery Castle lies within walking distance. The Offa's Dyke National Trail passes close by, while Powys Castle, Chirk Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park are all nearby National Trust properties. The Welshpool to Llanfair steam railway, Montgomery Canal and Lake Vyrnwy offer local attractions. Shrewsbury is 30 minutes' drive away; Bala Lake and Llangollen, with their watersports, are about 40 minutes away. The town of Montgomery itself has restaurants, bars and shops.
