The Ramparts

You arrive at The Ramparts into a porch designed to catch the mud and boots after time outdoors—a practical touch in a detached house set on the edge of Montgomery. The ground floor opens into a living room with a Smart TV and a kitchen fitted with a dishwasher, electric cooker and hob, leaving you the space to cook properly rather than just reheat. Upstairs sit three bedrooms: one with a double bed, one with two singles, and one with bunks, along with a single bathroom.

Outside is a decent garden laid to lawn with seating and furniture, all enclosed. One dog stays free. The essentials—heating, electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels—are included, and there's a bike store if you're heading out on Offa's Dyke trail, which runs close by. Montgomery gives you access to Powys Castle, Chirk Castle and the steam railway at Llanfair; Shrewsbury is 30 minutes' drive, and the Cardigan Bay coast is roughly an hour. No smoking inside.
