Cross Keys Inn Cottages - Five Dorchester Drive

Photo: Cross Keys Inn

Five Dorchester Drive is a single-storey cottage attached to the Cross Keys Inn, a working pub in Preston. The entire property is yours alone, with three bedrooms (two doubles and one single) and a bathroom with bath and shower. Everything sits on one level, making it straightforward to navigate; the entrance needs just one step up. Bed linen, towels, wifi and electricity are all included, and there is enclosed garden space with furniture, plus parking for two cars nearby.

The open-plan living area combines sitting room and dining space, with a kitchen equipped for everyday cooking—electric oven, hob, microwave and fridge. French doors open onto the garden. The pub downstairs is known for hearty food at reasonable prices and a welcoming, informal atmosphere, should you want to eat without cooking. This works well for families or groups wanting a base with minimal fuss; a travel cot and highchair can be arranged if needed. The cottage does not permit smoking indoors.

The Lancashire countryside is accessible from the doorstep, with walks leading into rolling hills and woodlands. Clitheroe and its Norman castle lie within reach for a day out, and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is nearby for those seeking longer rambles.

Wow. Stopped here on a whim travelling to Blackpool and what a perfect little find!!! The building and grounds are stunning. There is lovely little cottages for stays. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond. We shared a pizza and it was absolutely delicious!!!!! My son loved the little fish pond. And 1 thing that usually let's places down is the bathroom.... these did NOT They were clean, tidy and didn't smell in the slightest! Highly recommend

I had an excellent dining experience. The highlight of the meal was the lamb pie, which was absolutely outstanding. The pastry was perfectly golden and flaky, while the filling was rich, tender, and full of flavor. Every bite tasted freshly prepared and well-seasoned. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It's clear that the kitchen takes pride in using quality ingredients and preparing dishes with care. If you're a fan of traditional comfort food, I highly recommend trying the lamb pie—it was one of the best I've had. I will definitely be returning.

Haven't been here since the 1990s and have fond memories so great to see again. Absolutely love the new look, the same cozy feel but lighter and brighter. The staff are amazing and the food was just perfect. Will definitely be back! Would advise booking just so they can plan and you can check what events are on, but if you are in the area I'm sure walking in would receive a warm welcome. Come visit, you won't regret it!

Excellent service. Only grumble was the battered pak choi on the crispy beef salad wasn't very nice and child's burger was absolutely huge and too big and overwhelming. It was an adult looking size burger.
