About Farm on the Hill

Farm on the Hill offers a refreshingly simple, off-grid escape tucked away near Prestwood, with the added bonus of being just ten minutes from Alton Towers and twenty from the Peak District. Campfires are positively encouraged here, and the back-to-basics setup—complete with showers, toilets and drinking water but no WiFi or mains hook-ups—appeals to those seeking a proper disconnection from everyday life. Open year-round, it's particularly popular with families looking for a secluded spot to stargaze and toast marshmallows.

Do note that pets aren't permitted and there's no chemical waste disposal on site, so pack accordingly. The secluded hillside setting means you'll need to be comfortable with a more rustic experience, but for many that's precisely the appeal.

Great campsite, excellent views, we all had a good time. Just what we wanted! Each pitch has a firepit and barrow loads of wood are for sale. Thank you.

We had a great weekend camping in the family field. The pitches are well spaced and very generously sized. The site was clean - no complaints about the basic facilities. The view was amazing with lots of wooded areas, lovely friendly cows, and - of course - diggers. We even got a fair harvest of delicious blackberries and raspberries on site. Our only small qualms were that the drinking tap near the toilet sometimes had no flow, and the location isn't the best for walkers. We will be returning, for sure!

Beautiful location and views from the site, spacious private pitches, very resonably priced and no hassle arriving or leaving. Bringing my dog was no problem as there are some dog friendly pitches. Great, simple site - will 100% stay again.

Wonderful secluded campsite near the southern edge of the Peak District. There are several field pitches spaced generously apart and a sink with running drinkable water and two compost toilets nearby. The field pitches are covered in lovely grass and well draining soil so even with rain it doesn't get boggy or water logged. The view from the field pitches are really amazing as it is on top of a hill (hence the name of the site) and each one has a large stone fire pit. You can drive right up on to your pitch and pretty much set up as you like so perfect if you have a roof box tent or just want to use your car as weather cover like we did. Prices are very reasonable at £10 for adults and £5 for under 12s. Even with some rain during our stay we had a great time and will definitely be staying again.
