Mabon House
Rhondda Cynon Taf
The Rhondda Valley holds deep industrial heritage, and Mabon House carries its own piece of that story. This Victorian property once belonged to William Abraham, mining activist and Rhondda's first Member of Parliament. The house itself anchors that past—marked with a blue plaque and named after Abraham's bardic title—while offering a full, private base for seven guests exploring the valleys and peaks beyond.
Three double bedrooms and a single bed across three floors give flexible sleeping arrangements. Two bathrooms serve the house: one ensuite to the main bedroom with both bath and double shower, the other with a shower. Downstairs, the living room and dining room open onto a back garden with seating and furniture. The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals, and wi-fi, heating, bed linen and towels come as standard. One small or medium dog can stay free. There is private parking for one car on site, and a bike store if you're arriving on two wheels. Note that the stairs are steep—something to factor in if mobility is a consideration.
A pub sits within a mile. The valley itself offers walking trails and water features; Bike Park Wales and Tower Zip World are both about 30 minutes' drive away, as is access to the Brecon Beacons. Cardiff is an hour by train. No smoking inside.
