The Ribble Valley sits at the heart of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that draws walkers, cyclists and those after quiet countryside. Bramble Cottage is a 19th-century barn conversion on a working sheep farm, one of several holiday properties scattered across 170 acres of managed farmland. The setting means you have the run of rural land to explore, though the cottage itself is yours alone—no shared facilities beyond a garden sitting area and barbecue.

Three bedrooms upstairs and one down make this suitable for families or small groups; the ground floor has a king and two singles, while upstairs there's a double and another king, plus a pull-out single for a child. One bathroom serves the lot. The heart of the cottage is the kitchen-dining room with a wood burner, dishwasher and the essentials for cooking; initial logs are supplied. Freeview, a DVD player and Wi-Fi keep you occupied indoors. Parking for three cars is on site, and one dog stays free.

Two miles away, Whalley has shops, cafés and restaurants, while the area is rich with things to do: Brockholes Nature Reserve, trout fishing, Whalley Golf Club less than a mile distant, and the Trough of Bowland for serious walkers. The cottage sits on a bridleway, and stabling can be arranged if you want to bring a horse. No smoking throughout.

We stayed in Bramble Cottage! Wow, what spacious lovely countryside accommodation! The kitchen space was just awesome. The place was full of everything you could possibly need. Location is rural - a few miles outside of Whalley, so a car is required. There's a big Tesco a short drive away in Great Harwood which we paid a visit to to get our food for the week. The cottage has big fridge freezer for all the food, no problem! Delightful shared courtyard yard with tables if weather is nice would be lovely sitting out there in the sunshine! The main bed was so comfy! You enter on ground level, and go down a small stair case to front room, kitchen and a bedroom and then from the ground level, up a small staircase to bathroom and two more bedrooms. The area - well, you are right in Pendle Witch Country! Loads of history and if you are able, go up to Pendle Hill for amazing views! Go to Lancaster Castle, St Patrick's Chapel, Lytham St Annes, Dunsop Bridge. Easy to get to the South Lakes too. Owner of the cottages is very friendly. Although there are a few cottages it did not feel busy or crowded in the slightest. The road approaching the farm is a little bumpy for a small part so best to go very slow there. Would very much recommend this holiday home!

Beautiful place to stay in very peaceful and picturesque surroundings. Accommodation 1st class with everything you need for self-catering. The cottage is wheelchair accessible with a downstairs twin bedroom. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of local walks and in easy reach of places of interest, places to eat out and shop.

This is a charming place with the most friendly hosts. They invited our kids to help feed new born lambs, patiently answered questions and took time to make sure we were settled and had everything we needed. The accommodation was just as advertised, very clean, comfortable and well maintained with plenty of space. Visitors need to be aware that the road to the farm is quite steep and narrow in places which some might find a little daunting but perfectly manageable if taken carefully. There is wifi coverage throughout the property but the bandwidth was rather limited. Still, maybe we shouldn't be visiting the beautiful Lancashire countryside to sit around staring at phone's and tablets.
