Kings Retreat

Kings Retreat is a period cottage on a quiet residential street in Oakham, built from stone with exposed brickwork and timber framing that gives the interior real texture and warmth. The owners have kept this character throughout—you'll spot it in the decorative details and the mix of materials—while equipping the place properly for modern stays.

The ground floor is open-plan living and dining, with a kitchen (electric oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine) flowing into a sitting area with a sofa bed that doubles as an extra sleeping space. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with a single, plus a pull-out single if needed. A shower room serves both. The property sleeps up to 6 people. One dog is welcome and can use the enclosed rear garden, which also has a patio and sitting-out area; there's even a private doggy door. Essentials like bed linen, towels, heating and wifi are included.

Oakham itself is a short walk away—a historic market town with independent shops, cafés and restaurants alongside the castle and museum. The train station is a 3-minute walk, with direct services to Birmingham, Leicester, London and Cambridge. Rutland Water is 4 miles off. There's a pub within a mile. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.
