About Hotel Catania
Walk into a room at Hotel Catania and you get a no-fuss setup: air conditioning, free WiFi and a comfortable base for exploring Scarborough, without any unnecessary frills. With just 10 rooms, it has the feel of a small guesthouse rather than a large hotel, and that keeps things simple for guests who just want a straightforward place to sleep and a proper breakfast to start the day.
Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar on-site, along with a lift, luggage storage and porter and concierge services. Guests can also make use of a gym, spa and sauna, and an indoor swimming pool, while the garden offers a spot to sit outside. The hotel doubles as a wedding venue and has meeting rooms available for those combining business with a stay by the coast.
Free on-site parking is provided, which is a practical plus in a seaside town where spaces can be hard to come by. Queens Parade puts guests within reach of Scarborough Castle, and there are pubs, restaurants and other entertainment nearby, with the town centre itself just over a mile away.

Visited here for a couple of nights at the end of June. Hotel is a good location for the north bar attractions, and perfect for the open air theatre, just a short walk away - could even hear the music clearly from there the night we weren't there. Parking is tight and small, and fills up quick. Owners very friendly and happy to help, there's a small continental breakfast included with the room if you want it too. Rooms have everything you need, and are very clean and tidy, just what we needed to spend a couple of nights. No fridge but tea/coffee and a kettle. Shampoo etc. also provided for the shower. Overall a good stay, and will be back again if we see something at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre.

I’m writing this review to share a very upsetting experience that my husband and I had with Catania Hotel Scarborough. My husband made a reservation through Booking.com and had to cancel it due to a sudden medical emergency in our family. He submitted a Free Cancellation Request well in advance and tried multiple times to contact the hotel directly for support. When he finally managed to speak with a staff member named Sandra, she was shockingly rude and unprofessional. She refused to listen, hung up the phone in his face, and ignored all follow-up emails. The lack of basic courtesy and communication from the hotel was truly unbelievable. Even worse, Booking.com cancelled the reservation without his approval, and we were still charged ,all because the hotel failed to respond in time and showed no willingness to help. As a result, we lost money and were treated with total disrespect. We will never book with this hotel again, and I strongly warn others to be cautious, the way we were treated was completely unacceptable and deeply disappointing.

had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Catania Hotel in Scarborough. Due to an unexpected family emergency, I tried to cancel or reschedule my booking well in advance. I submitted a Free Cancellation Request through Booking.com, but received no response from the hotel within the expected time. When I tried to contact the hotel directly, I spoke to a staff member named Sandra, who was unfortunately extremely unhelpful and rude. She hung up on me without listening to my situation and did not respond to any of my emails. This level of customer service is simply unacceptable. Instead of helping me resolve the issue or offering any flexibility or basic courtesy, I was left feeling completely ignored and disrespected. I was also charged for a stay I couldn't use — not because of my actions, but because of poor communication and careless service. I will not be booking with this hotel again, and I strongly advise others to think twice before staying here if you expect respectful treatment and professional service.

I booked a stay at Hotel Catania last minute after being let down by a local guesthouse and nearly spending the night in my car! What a relief it was to be greeted with such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel really does what it says on the tin—no frills, just good vibes, great service, and a lovely, quiet spot overlooking the beautiful Scarborough beach. Perfect for a peaceful stay with stunning views. Definitely made the best out of what could’ve been a nightmare night. Would happily return!
