Avenel Cottage

You enter Avenel Cottage into a living and dining room with views across Yetholm Loch toward the Cheviot Hills. The room centres on an oak-beamed fireplace; comfortable seating faces the water. An open fire, freeview TV and DVD player occupy the space. The kitchen, equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine, opens from here. Upstairs, the main bedroom contains a kingsize bed and single bed, while the second bedroom has a three-quarter double. A bathroom with bath and shower is on the ground floor. The cottage sleeps five and includes bed linen, towels and wifi; heating via electric and biomass systems. One pet stays free.

The enclosed garden wraps around the back, south-facing and sheltered, with seating areas, furniture and a barbecue. Direct access leads to paths beside the loch. Private parking accommodates two cars. The cottage stands on the Old Lochside Estate, near Town Yetholm. Kelso lies 7 miles away; Jedburgh 14 miles; Melrose 23 miles. Each town has restaurants, galleries, food producers and historic abbeys. Local castles, country houses, the Northumbrian coast, Holy Island and the Farne Islands are all within a day's reach. Shops and pubs are 2½ miles away. No smoking.
