Bridge Cottage is a one-bedroom cottage for two on a secluded site in the Scottish Borders, built with considerable attention to comfort and detail. Guests arrive into an open-plan ground floor where living, dining and kitchen areas flow together, with French doors opening onto a sheltered patio. A wood burner sits ready for cooler evenings, and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking – oven, hob, dishwasher and all the basics included. Upstairs, the galleried bedroom is spacious and doubles as a mezzanine overlooking the living space below, with a zip-and-link bed that can be split into two singles on request. The shower room has underfloor heating, and the cottage is warmed throughout by electric central heating. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and logs for the stove are all provided.
The burn that gives the cottage its name runs nearby – the property is fenced – and the setting is genuinely rural, with good walking and cycling on the doorstep. Lauder village is 6 miles away and has shops, restaurants, pubs and a gallery. Kelso and Melrose, both with abbeys and historic houses, are within reach for a day out. The River Tweed is famous for fishing, and East Lothian's beaches are 25 miles south. Edinburgh, 21 miles north, is accessible for culture and dining. There is private parking for two cars on site, and a bike store for exploring the surrounding routes.
