Walk through the entrance and you step straight into a single open-plan ground-floor space: living area to one side with a wood burner and television, dining and kitchen zone flowing into it, bedroom and bathroom completing the layout. Everything is on one level. The kingsize bed faces garden views; the bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle. A private sauna sits alongside the property itself.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave—with French doors that open to the enclosed front garden and patio. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wood-burner fuel are all included. There is parking on the road and a bike store for exploring the local network of paths and woodland trails that start from the property.

Newcastleton sits in quiet countryside near the River Liddel, with Kielder Observatory and its dark-sky experience roughly ten minutes' drive away. Kielder village, with its castle, tearoom and restaurant, is about six miles off. The property does not permit smoking.

The Liddel Haven a.k.a, a little slice of heaven! The best presented cottage we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. A last minute booking that turned into the most wonderful holiday. Everything about the cottage was considered and made it feel like a luxury escape from everyday life, with the added bonus of a well kept garden to relax in when the weather allows. The cottage is just a stones throw away from Keilder Forest, and within easy reach of Jedburgh, Hermitage Castle and Lindesfarne further afield for a day trip. Or you can walk in some beautiful countryside from the door and spot a plethora of birdlife including Golden Eagles. If you are considering a stay on the Scottish Boarders, book here of one of Zena and Simon's other properties, I promise you, you won't regret it.

We had a great stay in the Liddel Dutch Barn, beautifully presented with fantastic attention to detail by non-intrusive hosts Zena & Simon. Such a comfortable, cosy place in beautiful surroundings, it gave us the peace we were looking for for a few days. We'll definitely be staying again.

Lovely space, well furnished, warm and cosy. Had everything we needed. Great view out and enjoyed the deck, watching the lambs and feeding birds. Sauna is a great touch, well used, and the Dutch barn was a great place to explore the countryside from. Very quiet and the comfy bed ensured a great sleep every night. A lovely host, would like to stay again.

If you're contemplating or comparing, just book this place. We stayed in the barn - Simply amazing. Furnished well, great location. We stayed to be within 20m of Kielder Observatory. The place looked great in the photos, but even they did not do the place justice. The bathroom is lovely, and even has a Sauna. Zena and Simon have thought of everything. You can just tell they listen to guests because everything in the place has purpose for making your stay feeling comfortable, welcoming and relaxing. For example, I needed an iron, they dropped one off for me, and I'm reliably informed the place has an iron now 😁 In terms of location, it's fairly 'central' with kielder 20m south and Jedburgh not far north. There are very few people near the place, but plenty of sheep and cute little lambs on the doorstep, that you can watch from the window. I highly recommend!
