Paxton House - South Lodge

The Scottish Borders around Kelso offer rolling countryside, riverside walks, and access to historic estates. South Lodge sits within the grounds of Paxton House itself, a substantial Georgian property with woodland gardens and open parkland to explore on foot. The lodge is a detached stone building on one level, with a step up to the entrance and another within the grounds to be aware of.

Inside, there's a double bedroom, a bathroom with bath and shower, and a living room with an open fire and television. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, making it straightforward to cook or simply reheat something brought with you. Bed linen, towels, wifi and electricity are all included. Outside, a west-facing garden with seating looks onto the courtyard, and there's free parking on site. The lodge sleeps two and welcomes one dog.

Staying here puts you next to Paxton House itself. The main house offers discounted tours (April to October) and a tearoom serving cakes and hot drinks. After regular opening hours, guests have exclusive access to walk the grounds and woodland trails. The River Tweed and the wider Border countryside are within reach for longer expeditions. No smoking inside the property.
