Whitehouse Farm Campsite

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We recently visited Whitehouse Farm Campsite with a group of 45 people and had a fantastic experience. The campsite is set in a beautiful location in the Peak District with stunning views and plenty of space for groups and families. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and the atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming. The owners were friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay. It was the perfect base for enjoying nature, walking, relaxing, and spending quality time with friends. Our group had an amazing weekend full of fun, laughter, and great memories. We would definitely recommend Whitehouse Farm Campsite to anyone looking for a peaceful camping experience in the Peak District and hope to visit again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

If you had visions of staying in peaceful countryside then this might not be right for you. We went on a random weekend in early July and it was full. The site is in a pleasant location and is a great area for walkers. But ultimately these are open, exposed fields with a direct line of sight to a nearby A road, one of the main routes through the Peaks, so no shelter from the wind and expect road noise. Facilities-wise it has those 'portable cabins' in each field. These are new and well kept but insufficient for a busy period, not surprising when the gents in our field only had 3 urinals and 1 cubicle for ~100 people. With no apparent authority around, the site is unsupervised at night, and vulnerable to the kind of people that like to stay up half the night partying. A private area was reserved for a Duke of Edinburgh contingent but these werent the problem. The idling engines, dance music, screams and wild laughter came from at least 3 different groups of adults in the one of the main fields. With the supposed 10pm curfew clearly being ignored, I escaped on foot to the nearby (and legendary) Three Stags Head for last orders and a bit of respite. Got back around 11:40 to find the main access gate for vehicles still wide open (no security then) and two drunk people arguing at the top of their voices in the lane. Sadly my plan had failed and the partying continued, keeping us up until the small hours. Im sure the light touch approach is fine mid week or in low season, but at peak times this kind of site is wide open to people who are basically having a boozy night out in a field and show no consideration to others.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon to gorgeous views surrounding the site and already quite a few people were there but with plenty of space to set up. Got checked in at around 7pm by the owners and given a ticket to place on the tent. The site has a no noise after 10pm policy however on a Saturday night that doesn't seem to apply. Got woken up periodically throughout the night by loud music, flashing headlights and shouting. It all went quiet around 4am just after someone fell over the guy ropes of the tent as they were walking past talking very loudly. The next day we ended up having the campsite to ourself which was nice however at 11pm a drunk man wandered onto the site and fell into our tent causing us to have to phone the police after the campsite owners didn't answer after ringing twice. I ended up shutting the gate at the end of the drive once the police arrived and went looking for the man who had by that time walked up the road. I informed the campsite of what had happened at 11:10pm via text which was read in the morning but we received no response from anyone until 4pm when we had already made the decision to check out early and leave. We also didn't see anyone come and check on the site before we left at around 1pm which you would think after hearing about someone trespassing they would come and check everything is alright. Although the intruder was not the site's fault, the lack of response or care from the owners was appalling. We didn't feel safe staying another night. Overall the facilities are great and views are gorgeous but they were completely overshadowed by a poor experience. It is probably the perfect campsite for large groups wanting to party but otherwise I wouldn't recommend staying.

Overall experience was positive! There's plenty of room across the x3 large fields for camping. There are no set spots which is good! Only issue was we seemed to choose the field with loads of kids, but they mainly kept to themselves and were not really very loud or disruptive. The facilities are well maintained, shame there are no hairdryers though. The shower is warm but no piping hot, might have been due to us visiting in the summer though. The owners came round towards the evening and checked our booking etc. and seemed friendly overall. Location is good, lots of hike options nearby!
