What visitors say
The house is absolutely beautiful, and the gardens are so well maintained with tons of places to explore. It’s a great spot to visit with the whole family because there’s really something for everyone, from the little kids to the adults. If you love art, the painting collection is amazing—you could easily spend a few hours just walking through it. Plus, the Emily Allchurch exhibition is definitely worth checking out if you're interested. Highly recommend it for a fun day out!

Fantastic property with an absolutely gorgeous garden. We visited during a heatwave and so mostly stuck to the inside of the house (nice and cool!) but the gardens are absolutely worth seeing and taking a walk around. Really nice cafe/tearoom, as well as really friendly staff in the gift shop. The stamps for the NT Passport here lovely too.

A picturesque house and garden to wander around. The house is dedicated to the art collection of Lord Bearsted containing paintings and ceramics. As usual the National Trust volunteers were available to provide extra details about the exhibits. The grounds were parched due to hot weather, which only means we will be back in the cooler months after some rain. Highly recommended.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We visited on a beautiful autumn day, and the whole experience was absolutely delightful. The house itself is full of character and history, with impressive interiors and a fascinating art collection. You can really feel the atmosphere of the past while walking through each room. The gardens are just as stunning – peaceful, well maintained, and perfect for a relaxing walk. The views over the surrounding countryside add even more charm to the place. Everything is very well organised, and the staff and volunteers were friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about the site. A perfect place to spend a few hours if you enjoy history, nature, and a calm, scenic atmosphere. Highly recommended.
