What diners say
Absolutely outstanding. My wife and I had an incredible experience at Rochelle Canteen from the moment we arrived. The ambience is truly special, with real grapevines draping across the roof and creating such a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere. The food was unbelievable throughout, particularly the crab salad and pork belly main, which were both exceptional. The biggest highlight, though, was our host and waitress, Hope. She made us feel so welcome with her warmth, professionalism and genuinely brilliant recommendations. She really elevated the whole experience and deserves special recognition. A truly memorable meal and one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had in London. We’ll definitely be back.

Rochelle Canteen is what happens when the people running a restaurant are still completely, joyfully present in it. Not managing it. Not overseeing it. In it - hands on, cooking with conviction, feeding people because they genuinely love to. The food is seasonal, assured and deeply honest. There are no borrowed flavours here, no references to cuisines outside its lane, no concept to unpick. Just outstanding British-European cooking rooted in what's good right now, today, in season. Ring the doorbell. Find a table. Order everything. You'll understand everything once you're there.

It’s a blessing to be able to eat this food in this setting. Hearty, and serene cooking on an early summer evening, presenting the freshest the season has to offer with restraint and a certain sincerity. Instantly understood why RC is a classic.

I have such mixed feelings about our meal we had at Rochelle Canteen.. I don’t know if because I’d heard a lot of hype around the restaurant that I was disappointed that it didn’t blow my mind or if my criticism was justified, here are my pros and cons… Pros -Gorgeous setting, felt fancy but not stuffy -Food was on the whole super tasty, fresh and seasonal, lovely drinks too! Cons -Staff were not that attentive, we had bread and then about 5 mins later plates come without a sorry or explanation as to why she didn’t bring them sooner when I could see she wasn’t busy. Everyone also seemed very quiet and not very engaging or welcoming or chatty, which is fair they’re just doing their job, but it’s always nice when a server makes you feel welcome -The food was lovely but just didn’t feel like it justified the really high prices, it felt like going round to someone’s house and them cooking some great food but then we had to pay £170 for it… -Everything could maybe do with a little more flavour in my opinion I would recommend if you don’t mind spending a fair amount as everything did feel super fresh and well cooked (and the use of seasonal ingredients was fab) but don’t expect a wow factor or incredible service
