About Camping at West Midlands Showground

Less than 15 minutes' walk from Shrewsbury's medieval streets and castle, Camping at West Midlands Showground offers a handy base for exploring the county town. The site sits within the showground complex, hosting everything from car boot sales to festivals, and guests appreciate the secure parking and friendly staff. It holds fishing rights on the River Severn, making it a draw for anglers, while non-fishers can follow the Darwin Town Trail, explore the abbey and gardens, or take boating trips along the water.

Facilities are straightforward – toilets, showers, laundry, and a drying room – though some visitors note maintenance can be patchy in places. Pitches range from non-electric grass to electric gravel and grass options, with space for well over 200 units. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the level site suits wheelchair users. Barbecues are allowed, handy given Shrewsbury's restaurants are a short stroll away. It's a practical, peaceful stopover for those wanting easy access to town without sacrificing green space.

FANTASTIC first experience at Vanlife 2026. Well organised family friendly festival. As a lone woman camping I felt supersafe. Value for money was EXCELLENT with 1000's of vans to view, 3 music stages, Vanlife workshops and cookery demonstrations. Massive sandpit for the children covered over with a huge bell tent to keep the sun off them. Absolutely FANTASTIC experience I will defo be going 2027

Great show ground. Here for the annual folk festival. What an event and not to be missed. Incredible bands (Levellers-Blazing fiddles-Oysterband included) Music food merchandise and more. Such a friendly atmosphere Great security and volunteers running the show. Cafes open early for coffee and breakfast and food from all over the world. Get there early (Thursday to Monday) Loads of secure parking😁 Showers and toilets kept immaculately clean😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Just a wonderful weekend 😁 Don’t be put off by the word folk. This is amazingly diverse. Rock, blues, country and more😁 Could not recommend more 😁🎪

Great location, only 15 mins walk into town. Lots of space between plots. Ian was really helpful and friendly. One criticism would be the toilets, I think a more regular clean would improve the facilities. Otherwise a great place for visiting Shrewsbury.

The Heal festival atmosphere was great😊 Sadly, due to the awful weather, the field was a pond 😆 The security staff were all drenched and freezing cold and still they were just amazing 👏 Probably going to write the wrong to use the wrong title now, but who cares.......the one security guard in the drum and bass tent where they were using decks and rapping, the guy with a beard was just the absolute best. We had to take chairs as we're both disabled. This wonderful man kept coming over and asking if he could fetch us a drink, food, etc. Stupidly I didn't get his name 😢
