About Premier Inn Shrewsbury Town Centre
Smithfield Road runs close to the River Severn on the edge of Shrewsbury's town centre, and it's here that Premier Inn Shrewsbury Town Centre makes its home, putting the old streets and the riverside within easy walking distance. It's a practical base for exploring the town without needing to drive in and out each day.
The hotel has 136 rooms across five floors, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and drinks available in the room, plus accessible rooms for those who need them. A lift serves all floors, and reception is staffed around the clock. Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar on site, with breakfast served each morning, and the beds and showers are kept to a reliably comfortable standard.
Beyond the hotel there are pubs, restaurants and other places to eat within easy reach, along with entertainment nearby for evenings out. On-site parking is available in a multi-storey car park, though it comes at a charge and space can be limited at busier times, so it's worth allowing a little extra time to park. Staff are consistently helpful, and the overall package represents solid value for a town-centre stay.
What guests say
We had a 1 night stay here in a Premier Plus room - staff on arrival were really helpful, room was very clean & quiet with great shower & comfortable bed. Location in centre of Shrewsbury was perfect for us. Car parking is limited - we parked in the multi storey next door. Breakfast was busy, but plentiful & lots of choice on the continental option we’d pre booked. Would definitely stay again.

Clean and very well presented. Whilst staff are not always present at the reception area, they are super helpful and accommodating. Shannon in particular was very helpful with the parking and providing information. The hotel is not pretty, but in a great location to explore Shrewsbury. Easy to get to the parking if you follow the postcode instructions given on their website. Walking distance to the train station. That always helps.

I booked for early check-in. But no-one around to book in and buzzer was broken. The self scanners the QR code readers wasn't working. So had to leave and come back after my meeting. Got into my room which was very clean and tidy. But had paint peeling off the wall. Went to turn the TV on but remote wasn't working. Had a look at the batteries. They looked as though they been chewed by a hoover. If it had been a standard room I would have thought meh. But I'd booked a premier plus. Which you would have thought to be better. There was a constant hum in the room. Booked for meal deal. Main and dessert had to remind them about the dessert as nobody came to check up.

So what about your staff?????? I say staff, I actually mean your managers. Useless, get someone who actually cares about you and your stay. Hard to believe, but we had a bat flying around our room in the early hours of the morning. My wife was super distressed and as such had no more sleep. I got up to get phone to video/ photograph, the wife opened the door and bat flew straight out and down the corridor, so unfortunately I was not able to capture on phone. Basically the managers did not believe us !!! I asked for a number for complaints which I got eye rolled at. When I got the number off the manageress she conveniently gave me the wrong number( this number did not exist). After tracking down said manageress who was hiding in the kitchen!!! I got the correct number. I reported what had happened, the lady was shocked at what had happened. Obviously a bat in a room is not an everyday occurrence. She needed to talk to the manager and see what had happened. Now this is my point…….The manageress told the complaint line a completely different story to what actually had happened and said that we were making the whole story up…. Why???????? I am in the catering industry and have been since leaving scool( I’m 60 years old). Never been treated like this before, never been called a liar before. It doesn’t matter how my stay was, I shall never use personaly or professionally Premier Inn again. I’ve cancelled my business app with premier which I used a lot. As for the Management, and there front of house manner, they are not fit for purpose.
