About Rowton Castle Hotel
Rowton Castle stands in its own parkland a few miles west of Shrewsbury on the road towards Welshpool, its castellated Georgian and Victorian frontage looking out over lawns, mature cedar trees and open countryside towards the Welsh hills. Inside, the house keeps a country-house atmosphere, with a grand staircase, high ceilings and log fires in the reception rooms.
Bedrooms vary between the main house and a garden wing, with several of the principal rooms retaining a genuinely historic character, tall sash windows and views over the grounds. The hotel's restaurant makes use of the setting for weddings and private dining as well as everyday guests, and the parkland itself is large enough for a proper walk without leaving the grounds.
Its position close to the Welsh border makes it a useful base for exploring both Shrewsbury and the Welsh Marches, with the town itself a short drive back along the A458.

What guests say
We visited a lot of venues when looking for where to have our wedding, but Rowton immediately stood out. First there was its beauty — the drive up to the castle alone takes your breath away — but things just got better from there. The grounds & facilities are stunning, but what really cinched it for us was how incredible the staff were on the open day. We thought out of all the other open days we’d attended, the staff at Rowton were by far the friendliest, most professional, and seemed like they truly couldn’t do enough for you. They work together like a well-oiled machine, which we realise now we’ve had our wedding is SUCH an important part of choosing a venue! It’s what makes everything run smoothly and perfectly on the day, and the Rowton staff went above and beyond. You can absolutely tell the venue is wedding-exclusive and that they do this kind of thing all year round. Corryn was our go-to for all pre-wedding planning and enquiries. She is a superstar and deserves so much praise. She communicated everything so thoroughly, her responses were lightning fast, and no task was too small when it came to planning all the details of our day. The day itself went so well. Our guests were blown away by everything, from the rooms to the gardens to the service to the food. The food itself deserves its own review, I’m so happy to know the best wedding food I’ve ever had was at my own wedding! Our guests were raving about it for weeks after the day. All in all, an absolutely amazing venue that knows exactly what they’re doing and will go the extra mile to make your day memorable. So many other venues seemed cookie-cutter to us, but Rowton made the whole process feel special. Thank you all so much, we can’t wait to return for a visit in the future!

We cannot thank the staff at Rowton Castle enough! Firstly, this venue is stunning. The grounds are very well kept and the castle well decorated. The little touches make the venue so special. From the first look around appointment we were listened to and all requests were granted. The behind the scenes staff (Gemma, Corryn and Chloe) could not do enough for us in the lead up to the wedding. Thank you all! On the wedding day itself Gareth and Ralph did a fantastic job to make sure the day ran without any problems. Gareth made sure we had drinks and canopy’s whilst we had our photos, speeches ran on time and throughout they were professional and friendly. The venue and staff was able to cater to guests with disability very well. The food was delicious and all our guests have come away saying what an incredible venue! Thank you all for making our day so special!

Wonderful historic English Castle. The buildings and grounds are superbly maintained. Lovely wedding venue. Small and intimate but spacious as well. Food and bedrooms are faultless. Food in particular was a very high standard. Staff friendly, attentive and happy. Service efficient. All in all it created a wonderful wedding and beautiful place to stay.
