Peaceful touring and camping park in the hills a mile from Sidmouth

About Salcombe Regis Camping and Caravan Park

Salcombe Regis Camping and Caravan Park occupies a lovely fold of countryside in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, barely a mile inland from Sidmouth. The park spreads across gently sloping, partly wooded ground with views towards the surrounding hills, offering grass touring and camping pitches alongside seasonal pitches and static caravans. Most pitches have electric hook-up, and two facility blocks provide showers and toilets that guests generally find well-maintained, though a few note they can feel a little dated during busier periods.

The real draw here is the location. The South West Coast Path and the climb up Salcombe Hill are within walking distance, and Sidmouth's beach, cafés and shops are close enough to reach on foot or by a quick drive. A dedicated dog field lets owners exercise their pets off-lead away from the pitches—a thoughtful touch much appreciated by walkers tackling the nearby coastal trails. There's also a small games area with badminton and table tennis, plus Wi-Fi across the site for those who need it. It's a peaceful, greener alternative to staying in town while keeping Sidmouth's attractions comfortably within reach.

I spent a weekend with a friend, in tents. This was a large and wonderful campsite, so spacious, clean facilities, showers were perfect temperatures. I had not camped for several years so I was rusty, and even managed to break a tent pole, which the onsite manager ("Steve") and camping community helped me repair! I can also see that potentially this a great location campsite for stargazing but I had gone during a full moon and June month so the skies are moonlit and skies won't be dark. But I could still see some of the Milky way above, so in the non summer moonless nights, it will be great for stargazing. The pitches were also spacious, where each pair had their own drinking water tap. Great convenience. I stayed on an electric one and used for electric pump and charging phone and power bank, again, very convenient. There is a church that rings the bell on the hour through the night and birds having "verbal" discussions which did disrupt my sleep somewhat but I got used to it the second night and slept like a rock. However, if you are sensitive and in a tent, maybe sleep with earplugs or music airbuds? If in a caravan, campervan the environmental sounds won't be a problem. But I absolutely loved my stay, Steve was always helpful and friendly. The experience has rekindled my desire to go camping regularly again and hope to be back again.

Just had a long weekend here, first time and won't be our last. Booked to return! So quiet, so peaceful. Site managers Pete and Steven both so helpful, providing information about local area, walkways, and things to see. Fantastic site, well maintained, great dog walk on site and loads of walking from site. Good pitches, with good supply of electric and water on each pitch. Lovely donkey sanctuary, close tp walk offering beautiful breakfasts and lunches. See you again soon

Just got home after an amazing 4 days at Salcombe Regis campsite. From the moment we arrived it was giving us positive vibes. Steve and Pete have a lovely site, and gave us a super warm welcome. The site is really tranquil, with a traditional English feel. Perfect for coastal walks, or just chilling on base. The birdsong ambience is idyllic, and our Cocker Spaniel Teddy loved the dog walking field. Only minor issue would be the shop, we would have liked a bit more produce - bread/croissants etc, as the next nearest shop is an hour round trip walking. This might be as we visited out of season, and definitely isn't a complaint. Overall, a perfect site for a relaxing camp, we'll definitely be back.

Lovely place, green and quiet. The managers are helpful and on site. Clean. Very convenient pitches for campervans with water and electricity. Only difficulty is the narrow and bendy road to get there and from there anywhere else
