Oakdown Holiday Park

Family-run holiday park three miles from Sidmouth with lodges, pods and touring pitches
About Oakdown Holiday Park
Oakdown Holiday Park sits in open Devon countryside a few miles inland from Sidmouth, run by the same family for decades and showing a genuine knack for hospitality. The site sprawls across nearly 100 landscaped pitches, mixing grass and hardstanding touring plots with fixed lodges and a dedicated glamping quarter called The Shire, where you'll find barrel pods, premier pods and shepherd's huts tucked among the trees. Facilities lean firmly family-friendly: two play parks, a quirky nine-hole golf course with its own café, and spotless shower blocks that visitors consistently praise.
What really stands out is the dog-friendly infrastructure—a dedicated gated walking lane, a dog spa for muddy paws, and welcome mats out across the site. A field trail runs straight to the nearby Donkey Sanctuary, one of East Devon's best-loved family days out, while Sidmouth's beach and Regency seafront lie ten minutes by car. Some guests note the site can feel a little tired in spots, but the warmth of service and sheer variety of pitches keep families and four-legged visitors coming back year after year.

What visitors say
Thank you Oakdown for a fantastic break and going above and beyond. The staff are a credit to this site, it was my other half's birthday and they welcomed us with open arms and decorated the lodge in readiness for our arrival. The sire itself would highly recommend, its immaculately clean, well maintained, and central to everywhere. Its also tranquil with lovely walks and a great onsite cafe and shop. Our accommodation was perfect and 5 star cleanliness and well equipped. Special thanks to Jason for showing us around the lodges for sale and understand why people return year on year. Sad to go back to the Midlands.

It is my second time here. We had a very disappointing experience at Oatland Campsite this time.\n\nWe arrived very late in the evening and were allocated a premium pitch, which was also the most expensive option. However, we soon discovered that the electric hook-up was too far away for our cable. The staff told us they would provide a longer lead, but instead, while we were having dinner and had already finished setting up our camp, a member of staff asked us to move to another pitch. Although it was inconvenient, we packed everything up and moved.\n\nUnfortunately, the next morning, while we were having breakfast, another member of staff came and told us we had to move yet again. We had to pack up our entire campsite for a second time. This was completely unacceptable and caused unnecessary stress and disruption to our holiday.\n\nWe paid for the most expensive pitch and expected a much higher standard of organisation and customer service. Sadly, our experience was very disappointing, and we would not recommend this campsite based on how we were treated.

Our first visit here and very impressed with how clean and well presented it was.\nMet on arrival and promptly shown to a lovely pitch by warm and friendly team.\nShower facilities we very clean and spacious. Large safe playground for the kids. The cafe and we'll stocked shop were an added bonus. Very impressed and will definitely be back.\nWe have recommended the site to other friends looking for new camping sites.\nGreat location too .

Lovely caravan park with holiday homes and touring areas, perfectly maintained, lots of green spaces. Great shop and cafe on site, including scoop ice scream, fresh croissants and cooked breakfasts. Amazing and free donkey sanctuary a 1 mile walk away alongside the fields. Perfect location nearby Sidmouth and Beer seaside towns. Easy to get to M5 J30 then A3052 the whole way.
