About Thorn Campsite
Tucked into Devon countryside a short drive from the Jurassic Coast, Thorn Campsite delivers something genuinely unusual: your own nine-hole golf course. Golfers can pack their clubs and enjoy rural rounds between camping sessions, while the clubhouse doubles as a snack bar with extra showers and loos for campers. The flat, neatly kept pitching field offers electric hook-ups, and there's wifi if you need to share your scorecards.
It's not all about the golf, though. Families find plenty to do nearby – fossil hunting along the coastline (ten minutes' drive), visits to The Donkey Sanctuary (five minutes), or beach days at Salcombe Regis and Seaton. The South West Coast Path sits close by for serious hikers, while Branscombe's traditional pubs and Budleigh Salterton's restaurant scene provide evening options. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the site happily hosts couples, families, and even single-sex or student groups looking for a relaxed, unpretentious Devon base.

What visitors say
Discovered this course this week. Have attended twice and thoroughly enjoyed a lovely par 3 course. Yes, the fairways are clearly marked and the greens are a little rough, but the course is a lovely way to practice your short game at a very reasonable price. Will definitely visit again ..

I love this place! Really lovely relaxed friendly atmosphere and a great place to come and work out how to hit golf balls without feeling self conscious. The driving range is rough and ready, and the balls are pretty grubby in the winter, but there is a tap and you can wash them yourself, if that's a concern to you. Most importantly, it's £1 for 20 balls! You can whack balls all day long, and it won't break the bank :) There is also an old car parked at the 200yd mark, and it is incredibly satisfying every time you hit it. I will try the 9 hole course when I've got better with the irons and won't ruin the course. Also, in the first week of August, they host AMAZING music acts at the wonderful Sidmouth Fringe Festival in their beautiful traditional wooden barn, and the sound quality is perfect. It's the perfect counter to mainstream rip-off festivals, and you should check it out!
