Kettlewell Camping

Kettlewell Camping is in a beautiful location, surrounded by rolling hills, a stream and traditional cottages and houses. Falling asleep to the sound of nature was perfect. There are two pubs a short walk away along with other local amenities. The site is a nice size and offers fantastic facilities: the toilets and showers were immaculate; the small shop had a variety of useful products and the potwash room had a communal fridge and helpful map of the area. The books for children to borrow from the potwash room were also a lovely touch. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Would definitely stay again ⛺️❤️🐄

We decided on a last minute one-night camp, to make the most of what looked like the only decent weather window of the bank holiday - sunny Saturday, rain from mid-evening and all though Sunday. As we were taking the Dometic swag and tarp, the rain shouldn’t be an issue. We arrived at Kettlewell, nestled in the upper reaches of Whatfedale in The Yorkshire Dales about 3pm, after a pleasant 50-min drive over the moors from Harrogate. Kettlewell Camping is a lovely small site, a few minutes walk from the village centre (and three pubs!), with immaculate facilities. They have EHU and non-electric, and can take up to camper van size, including folding trailer-tents and roof tents. Nigel is usually on hand to make sure everything is running smoothly and that everyone is happy. You can also hire fire pits. There’s also a small shop for essentials, and the washroom has a fridge freezer. We had decided to eat at The Bluebell, so we didn’t really need to bring much. We got back and lit the fire pit about 7:30 and sat watching kids play cricket/catch and general people watching. It was nice to see so many fire pits lit (at least a dozen), and even when it started raining about 9 o’clock, sitting under the tarp, dry and warm as toast was very cosy… and to us, what camping’s all about. Our second visit and certainly not our last :-)

I so want to give this 5 stars as I absolutely love kettlewell, some great walks and a couple of pubs for the after walk pint and food if you want it. The campsite is almost perfect and is south facing down the valley. The shower block is clean and warm with great showers. The owners are really friendly and welcoming. The pot washing room also has a fridge in there if you require keeping things cold. You can have a raised fire pit and they do have them for hire if you don’t have your own. Electric pitches are available also. There’s also WiFi on site which works well I have to mention the church bells and is the reason for 4 stars not 5. Sadly they are a thing and if you’re a light sleeper then you won’t get much sleep at all as they do sound every 15 mins. I think the owners and the local community could get together and maybe get them stopped from 2200-0700 as this is the site rule for quietness and farmers these days have watches. Great site though. 👌👍

Great campsite. Friendly owners and top shower block/facilities. The black slate looks class in the cubicles and very clean with lots of hooks etc to get changed. Showers are excellent with good power and hot water. I visited bank holiday arriving on the sunday for 2 nights. The site was busy when i arrived but pitches not on top of each other so still had space etc. Will definitely be back 👌
