I am writing this review in regard to the wonderful service i was shown by specifically two members of your hotel and it felt only right to commend them on the service and hospitality they showed not only me but everyone who was around them. I visited for my conference meetings then later on took a trip to the bar and was looked after from the moment I sat down. Both Naina and Travis were absolutely brilliant throughout the afternoon. They made everyone feel welcome, kept the atmosphere lively, and despite the bar being busy, they never let the quality of their service slip. Naina I would like to say, deserves a special mention. She has such a warm and inviting personality and a great sense of humour that made the whole experience even better. She was constantly smiling, engaging and chatting with customers, and making everyone feel comfortable. It wasn't just friendly service—it felt genuine. I honestly don't know how she managed it all. Travis was equally fantastic. The two of them worked effortlessly together, and you could tell they had a great working relationship. Their banter and charm had the whole bar laughing, yet they still remained professional. It's rare nowadays to come across a team that works together so naturally. They made an inside joke between customers at the bar which further elevated the already comforting and inviting atmosphere. The gentleman in the blazer who takes 40 minutes to style his hair was a welcome and funny joke which kept myself and the people at the bar amused and further exemplified the service we were given. I could not fault the two of them on their exemplary service to not only me but to the rest of the people at the bar. Naina always ensured everything was fine and engaged actively in conversation with myself and other members at the bar as did Travis. The amenities were also top notch like the air conditioning in my room which was a very needed and grateful inclusion, especially during this humid British summer. The only downside to my visit I would say was the reception. Unfortunately, the reception staff seemed quite moody, and on a couple of occasions they would disappear for long periods after saying they'd "just be a minute," which was a little frustrating. Thankfully, this unfortunate incident was completely overshadowed by the outstanding service received by both Naina and Travis at the bar. Overall, Naina and Travis are a huge credit to Voco St. John's Hotel. They turned what would have been a “regular Tuesday”, so to speak, into a really enjoyable experience. Staff like Naina and Travis are the reason people return to establishments, as will I in the future.

We booked the king bedroom. The shower wasn’t cleaned and looked disgusting (see pictures below). We contacted the hotel to complain, unfortunately Saleem Asghar (who works at the hotel and dealt with our complaint 1 day after we had left) told us that the room had been part of their stringent cleanliness procedures and that the dirt in the shower wasn’t due to their “anti slip”, which had apparently only been applied in a corner of the shower. He confirmed he had reviewed the pictures, not the room itself… When I queried about that - I never received a response. Bad service from a IHG hotel - which customers normally book for reliable quality. Our advice - do NOT stay here. Dirty and when you complain to the management, as soon as you’ve paid for your room, you’re ignored and they come up a day later with some weird excuses.

I stay here regularly for business and family visits. It is now my preferred choice when I am in the Midlands. The rooms are always great. All of the staff are fantastic and always make me feel very welcomed and recognise my diamond elite status. A special mention must go to Lucy on reception who ALWAYS goes the extra mile to be helpful and is a real credit to the hotel. See you next time!
