The Blackdown Hills National Landscape straddles the Somerset-Devon border, a landscape of rolling farmland, woodland and long views that draws walkers and those seeking quieter countryside. Sparrow's Nest sits on the slopes here, a single-bedroom cottage attached to the owners' home. You have the run of a ground floor living and dining room with a woodburner, a kitchen with a full cooker and washing machine, a bedroom with a double bed and ensuite shower, and an enclosed lawned garden with seating and a barbecue. Electricity, wifi, bed linen and towels come as standard; initial fuel for the fire is included.
Two guests can stay, and one dog is welcome provided it remains on a lead. The garden is shared with the owners and their chickens, though you have your own private parking space. A pond lies 20 yards away in the garden. No smoking is permitted indoors. The location puts you within easy reach of Exmoor and Dartmoor, the north Devon and Somerset coasts (beaches about 21 miles), Wellington itself, and countless National Trust properties. Closer by, footpaths and woodland connect through the local hills. A pub and restaurant are a mile away, with shops two miles distant.
