Wood Dairy - Acorn Cottage

Photo: EnglishThaiConnect

The Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes Motor Museum, Forde Abbey and several nature reserves lie within easy reach of Acorn Cottage, and the Somerset-Dorset border puts both counties' attractions on your doorstep. Inland, Glastonbury Tor, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge and Clarks Factory Village are all accessible by car. The Jurassic Coast and its seaside towns—Lyme Regis, West Bay and Weymouth—sit about 13 miles away, while country pubs, golf courses and fishing spots dot the surrounding villages.

This ground-floor barn conversion has two bedrooms: a king and a pair of singles, plus one bathroom with both bath and shower. The open-plan living and kitchen space includes a woodburner, a full suite of appliances from dishwasher to washing machine, and a television with Freesat. A lawned garden with patio and barbecue opens onto the owner's wider grounds, where you can walk the dog or simply retreat to the quiet. Parking for two cars is on site. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all covered. One dog stays free; smoking is not permitted.

Excellent place for a relaxing break and close enough to get to the coast and browse around the different towns

We had an amazing stay in this lovely relaxing cottage for a week. This place has everything you could possibly need and was spotlessly clean. The cottage is surrounded by fields so was so quiet and peaceful with just the birds for company! It is a little drive from most places so you definitely need a car to get about. We did a lot of driving this week, so just bare that in mind when visiting places. We had no problems with the small lanes. Just remember your pulling in spaces if another cars coming towards you! The owners left us a really nice welcome basket which we all enjoyed! You can purchase fresh eggs on site but there is a lovely little farm shop up the road. We really enjoyed lighting the wood burner in the evenings and relaxing trying the local cider! Definitely a little gem!

Lovely, cosy, comfortable, well appointed cottage very much off the beaten track. Wildlife is encouraged and there is a dog friendly paddock where we played football. Footpaths from the property but many fields that footpaths go through are full of cows and not always brilliantly signposted. Once the track from the property has been navigated, there are all sorts of attractions within easy reach. Very much enjoyed the stay and the accommodation.

We love this cottage 😊 it's remote so we have peace and quiet when we want it! If we want to go out for a bite, we are not far away from great food and a fab base for sight seeing too. You just can't go wrong.
