The Signal Box

The Signal Box is a detached log cabin on the edge of Galloway Forest, where river walks begin practically at your door. The single bedroom has a double bed, there's a shower room, and everything is on the ground floor. The open-plan living space includes a woodburner and smart TV, while the kitchen has an electric hob and combination microwave-oven. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and heating are all provided, and one car can park on site.

The property sits in quiet countryside within South Ayrshire. Girvan town is ten minutes away, offering shops, a leisure centre with swimming pool, and boat trips out to Ailsa Craig for birdwatching or fishing. The Galloway Forest itself—Britain's largest at 300 square miles—contains deep valleys, moorland, lochs and ancient woodland; red deer, roe deer, wild goats and birds of prey all live here. The forest has also been designated a Dark Sky Park, meaning night skies are exceptionally clear. Nearby are ruined castles at Dunure, Turnberry and Greenan, the clifftop Culzean Castle, and Dumfries House with its Chippendale collection set within 2,000 acres of grounds. The area is Burns Country, connected to Scotland's national poet through cottage, museum and literary landmarks. One pet may stay at no extra charge. The property is non-smoking.
