Professors Cottage

Professors Cottage is a single-storey property near Colmonell, designed so you don't need to climb stairs. You walk into a living room with a woodburner and smart TV, leading through to a kitchen/dining space equipped for proper cooking—oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave all there. The bedroom holds a kingsize bed. The bathroom has a bath with shower over it. Heating, electricity, wifi and bed linen are included; initial fuel for the woodburner comes with the cottage, and more is available locally.

Outside, an enclosed garden has seating and a barbecue. The grounds contain an unfenced stream. Two dogs stay free, and a crate is provided. There's parking on site and a bike store if you want to explore the area. The cottage suits couples, solo travellers, or those who find stairs difficult. The countryside around here draws walkers and cyclists, with Galloway Forest Park nearby, and the location sits on the edge of the dark sky park if you're interested in stargazing. No smoking inside.
